Despite fears that conditions would not be suitable, the first surf contest to take place in Boscombe, Dorset, will be held this weekend.

The location is Europe's only artificial surf reef and there were concerns that there would not be enough swell for the event.
However, the Sorted Surf Festival has now been given the all-clear and organisers are expecting between 50 and 60 watersports fans to come and participate.
There will be several categories for people to compete in, including the men's open, ladies open and under-18s, the BBC reports.
They will be judged on their manoeuvres over a series of heats and the action is set to kick off at 08:30 GMT on Saturday March 20th.
A spokesperson for the event said that because of the concerns about the water swell, "all heats and the final will have to be completed in one day instead of two".
Construction of the reef was completed on November 2nd 2009 and the work was undertaken by New Zealand-based firm ASR.
